The Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd. (REC) has sponsored a class of 35 students who have joined the HimJyoti School in class 5 under its CSR initiatives. These girls belong to the most underprivileged sections of society residing in the remote and rural areas of Uttrakhand. They undergo a tough selection procedure comprising of a written test and interview. The idea behind the initiative is to promote education amongst these sections and not let poverty or lack of resources scuttle the inherent talent amongst these girls.
To mark the beginning of this project, Mr. Rakesh K. Arora, General Manager-(Fin. Corporate Accounts/ Resource Mobilisation/ Banking CP/CSR, Member-SC) visited the school campus along with Mr. Aggarwal who heads the REC office at Dehradun.
